Reading Week

My reading week was actually last week, the week of Feb. 18th, but I haven't gotten the chance to write about it. Anyway, just like any other school breaks, I spent my reading week back home in Mississauga. I am usually known by my friends as the busy-bee, someone who is always busy and always has things to do. But surprisingly, this reading week I was very laid back. I spent a lot of time at home to cook, clean, do homework, etc. I did go out, but not as much as I thought I would! =p

Even though my reading week sounded boring, I actually had a lot of fun. I got to spend time with my family, which I haven't been lately due to our other priorities. On Wednesday of the reading week, I hosted a family shabu-shabu night at home. My older brother was working, but Totoy was also there. The theme of the night was seafood. We had all sorts of kinds from shrimps, squids, scallops, shrimp and fish meatballs, etc. I purposely chose seafood because it was my dad's favourite, although we also had sliced beef and beef meatballs. To start with, the soup was made out chicken bouillon and egg whites. The egg yolks were used in the dipping sauce along with some chillies. We even had sake!! My brother and Totoy went downtown for a haircut, and they brought home a big bottle of sake! =p We drank it the traditional Japanese way, so we warmed it up in a hot water bath before drinking it. I drank enough that my face turned red! Overall, it was one great night!

I also spent some time with the DOT girls. Nia couldn't come with us because she had to study for her midterms. Anton was also already back in Scarborough due to the amount of programming he had to do. So, the four of us went to After Rain, a new Thai fusion restaurant owned by the former owner of Sushi Tei. The restaurant looked great! The food were great! The service was great! I was totally impressed with it. They also served us a grilled mackerel fish on the house. My favourite food was the mango rolls. Mangoes were wrapped in rice, rolled in a vegetarian nori, which was a substitute for sea weed. I've never seen or eaten this vegetarian nori before. To my enlightment, the colour was yellow! =) The sweetness of the mangoes complimented the whole dish and dipping sauce. I had a great dining experience there and I plan to come back very soon!

I also spent some time with Putri. Although we didn't really go out as we always do, she came over to my house to do some homework. We were supposed to go to Waterloo together, or go to Pacific Mall, but she was working most of the days of the week so the trip was cancelled! =(

Another highlight of this year's reading week is that I finally met Martalia, one of Yudi's close friends! I've never met her, but our stories started somewhere back in 2006 or 2007 when she randomly added me on Friendster! =p So, the gang (Yudi, Martalia, Osa, and Regen) came over to Mississauga the night before family day and we watched Step up 2! AWESOME movie, that's all I can say.

Well, I'm not finished talking about reading week, but since it's past lunch time... I'm going to fix myself some food!

Until next time...

HIS goodness is sufficient for me!

God was so good to me today. I went to school this afternoon to study for my midterm tomorrow. It was snowing pretty bad outside, but I couldn't concentrate at home, so I decided to go to school anyway. When I arrived at the Science building, all the desks in the atrium and study rooms were occupied. I wasn't too surprised because everyone is busy with midterms and assignments during this time of the year. But I was upset for a while because if I didn't find a desk, that means I had to go back home. I didn't want to take my chances to walk to another building to find a study spot. I also didn't want to share a table with other friends because I knew I would just talk instead of studying.

Anyway, I went all the way to the top floor. When I realized that there were no empty tables, I started walking down the stairs and I was praying so that at least one of the tables would be available in one of the quiet study rooms. And God is AWESOME! I saw an empty desk RIGHT AWAY! =p It was also on the 2nd floor by the window, so I was able to watch the snow fall the whole time!!! =)

I started walking home at about 9:30 pm. It was still snowing outside. The snow was even worse than before! It was really cold! But my heart was still overjoyed with God's goodness and grace. Have I ever told you that I LOVE walking on fresh snow? =p It felt so good! Only if I was not tied down with midterms and assignments, I would be out there playing with snow, and in the snow right this second!

Alright, I better get to bed or study some more! Please pray for my midterm tomorrow!

HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR ME!
